The 2008 Beijing Olympics provided insight into star athletes' dedicated training regimens, including regularly scheduled bodywork. Swimmer Michael Phelps, who won eight gold medals at the summer games, noted that his routine integrates daily massage. While most of us lean toward recreational sports and exercise rather than world-class competition, massage can still play an important role in maintaining health and keeping bodies prepared to play.

A traditional full body massage. Swedish Massage is often thought of as the ultimate in "relaxation" massage because of its long, gliding strokes & thorough kneading style, but a Swedish Massage is also so much more. This popular style incorporates relaxing, rhythmic strokes of light to medium pressure and depth.
Many people have begun to incorporate weekly Swedish Massage sessions as a vital element of their ongoing stress relief regimen. Don't be surprised if you find yourself longing for the calm & comfort offered by this "much kneaded" type of massage after just one session! Practically guaranteed to make you say "aaahhhhhh...."
"Knead for Speed!" (60 or 90 Minutes)
The "Knead for Speed" focuses on getting legs and backs ready for (and recovering from) explosive running and speed. Massage is especially important for runners who run more than 3 miles a week. The more miles you run, the more strain your muscles are under and the more beneficial sports massage is. Incorporating massage therapy and stretching into your training schedule will help you train optimally. Runners who get regular massages will notice it helps to reduce muscle inflammation, tension, and soreness. It flushes out the lactic acid that is produced while running and increases flexibility. Massage increases mental alertness and reduces muscle fatigue and so decreases muscle recovery time which also helps you decrease your chance of developing a muscle injury and keeps you running longer. Massage also helps to eliminate muscle spasms that can occur with vigorous training regimes.
A targeted massage geared for pre and post physical activities or for those with specific areas of concern such as carpel tunnel alleviation. Reducing discomfort using long, gliding strokes & thorough kneading and compression techniques to speed oxygen to overworked muscles eliminating the lactic acid build up in the tissues and cramping potential.
If you don't have a specific area of concern then this massage will focus on releasing the muscles in the back, shoulders and neck helping to increase range of motion thus enhancing any athlete’s performance.
A more 'serious' approach to massage incorporating deeper penetration of strokes and trigger point stimulation to work out serious knots. Often considered less relaxing and more a physical therapy approach to massage, deep tissue work requires good communication with your specialist to ensure a tolerable level of sensation. Often this approach is used to alleviate pain. Common issues clients report help with are improvement in repetitive motion injury sites, less stiffness due to arthritis, improvement in BlackBerry thumb, and chronic head aches alleviation. Post treatment icing of the area may be recommended by your specialist.
A focused 30 minute treatment, not full body this massage addresses the concerns of those who have over indulged in the hand held devices such as the Blackberry, video game controllers, and other repetitive motion machines and motions. This specialized session is designed to release the stress and tension on the joints, ligaments, and muscles of the hand and wrist. This treatment is a perfect add on or a quick session that can be done fully clothed.
Sweet relief for those tired feet! One of the hardest working parts of the body, the feet are often the most neglected. Select this session of special focus on the feet, ankles, and lower leg. This service can be done fully clothed as well and is a 30 minute session.
A focused treatment, not full body that is a gentle massage geared to relieving the muscle cramps, spasms, and pain often encountered in the lower back, neck, hips and legs during pregnancy. Safe semi-reclined and side-to-side body positioning with body pillows for extra comfort help you relax without worry.

Discuss with your practitioner any concerns you may have about the upcoming session. It is important that you are comfortable during the massage, and that you know your options. The more you communicate with your practitioner, the better your massage will go. Some commonly expressed concerns are below. Click to read the ones of concern to you or scroll down to read them all.
Modesty: During your massage you will be appropriately covered at all times. As each part of the body is being worked on, it is uncovered. Rest assured your modesty will be respected and you may undress to the level you are comfortable with. Genitals and female breasts will be covered at all times.
Talking:
Talking during the treatment is optional. Some people prefer silence and others
like a more social interaction. Please select your preference as to talking on
your update ticket prior to your
massage.
My Safety & Exposure to Disease: You may have heard about people getting skin infections and other disease from poor hygiene and sterilizing at massage establishments and that is certainly possible for many reasons you might not think about unless you are germaphobic like we are. Failing to wash their hands prior to massage, failure to use a hospital level disinfectant (not just wipe off or laying in the sun or moon to "clean"!) on stones (immersing them in an approved disinfectant solution for a full 10 minutes and air drying prior to reuse) and other tools used for massage, failure to utilize proper disinfectants in laundering bedding can all put your health and safety at risk. From Hepatitis to boils, herpes to warts a poorly disinfected rock or unwashed technician hands can spread them to you.
Rest assured like all of our other services we bring new levels of hygiene and sanitation to the service. Your safety and sanity are our foremost concerns. Our staff is paid on salary and has sick leave and paid time off so you won't find them coughing and hacking through services here--we care about your health too!
Contact Lenses: During your massage, you may find it more comfortable to remove your contacts. Be sure to bring a case and any solutions you require and we will remind you to put them back in before you go.
Oil or Lotion Use: During your massage your specialist may use oil or massage crèmes or lotions. If you prefer not to feel dipped in slippery stuff all day after your massage please let us know and we can switch to a fast absorbing product that still gives us the glide we need without the left over residue for you. All of our lotions and oils are hypoallergenic and fragrance free for your safety.
Make-up and Hair: Massage of the face, scalp or neck may result in disturbing your makeup or hairstyle. Let your practitioner know if this is a concern. They may either modify their technique, be especially careful, or skip an area altogether.
Pain: Good massage does not need to be horribly painful to bring about results! If you at any time feel discomfort immediately, inform your practitioner. If you require more pressure, feel free to inform us.Cell Phone and Pagers: During your massage we want you to be able to relax. If you find that not having your device causes you more of a problem then having it go off during your massage, then of course it is always your choice to have it by your side or turn it off prior to your session. So as not to inconvenience other clients, note that we can't stop your massage time for you to take a call the clock keeps ticking so to speak.
